Hey this is Tyler TJX survival survival Dispatch for the past few years I've Been using tripods from a company called Field office research this is one right Here in fact the camera I'm using right Now is also on one of the field Optics Research tripods so Let's talk about them [Music] [Music] I've been making video content for about The last 10 years almost all of it I Shoot by myself in the mountains in the Back country because of that I have Certain criteria that I need to have in The equipment that I use number one it's Got to be lightweight can't take up a Lot of space these are carbon fiber I don't know what the weight is on this I'm gonna guess two pounds pound and a Half Um very lightweight tripods something That I can bring up to a high height I've used these in sand I've used these In the mountains I've used these in some Pretty harsh climates I put my weight on Them like walking sticks I've thrown Them in the back of vehicles strapped Them into backpacks taking them all up All over in the uintas use them all over The place now I'm using them primarily with camera Gear that's not exactly what they were Designed to be used for I have also used
Them pretty consistently with shooting Uh with with rifles and stuff they are Designed for long range shooting Some tough stuff popping up right there [Applause] See if I can hit some snow patches [Applause] When I was helping with a level two Special forces sniper course they had a Similar setup to this Um that's part of why I was turned on to A meaning that's part of why I was Interested in what they had and what They made so let me just show you a Quick rifle setup and why I like this And we'll go from there Now I don't have a big heavy long range Rifle set up with me today but I do have A 10 22 with the bull barrel gets the Point across so We assembled this little guy The cool thing about this tripod and About this setup that's different from The other stuff that I've seen is a lot Of the other ones they're only designed To grip it or they're only designed to Permanently attach This one You can slide that out and you can Attach it with a pectini rail right you Can attach that right to your rifle make This almost a semi-permanent attachment Your AR your long range weapon whatever Or
You can just use this grip By cranking it tight on there And now it integrates it but it gives me The ability to pull it apart throw this On my backpack carry the rifle on its Own or whatever I want to do another Very ingenuitive adaptation that I've Seen Is they just got this little twist Friction attachment so maybe [Applause] Maybe I'm up in the mountains I have a Hide spot or an OP that I want to sit Out for a big duration of time I want to Put my binoculars on it in fact I use This tripod system quite regularly in The unit uintas as my spotting setup When I'm doing archery hunting works Great gives me the ability to just kind Of sit up after I've been hiking for a While you know get up early in the Morning hike for a couple of hours Pre-dawn get to a good observation Point Sit down maybe have a little food and Just sit and watch and it holds my Optics it holds my system so that I can Sit and just observe the valley or in This case maybe you want to use the Optics on the weapon system you know I Can Get the place I want to look at and then Just twist that little piece in the Bottom Tighten this up a little more
So I just twist that little piece in the Bottom and then just sit there now if I Want to check it out again Get on the gun see what I want to see Maybe I want to I want to quickly Reacquire a Target I turn I get my Target acquisition I tighten it down and Now I'm gone So When it comes to stability that's key When it comes to accuracy or long range Shooting the longer it is the more Stable it is the more accuracy you're Going to have when you send around to That long range Target the closer it is The less that's needed right but if it's Super close and you're doing quick Target acquisition take it off the Tripod takes just a couple of twists A little cold I can't talk Right and then we just pop it right off But if I want to drop this in I can tighten it up nice and snug and Now I've got something that I can use There's a nice long range setup the Other thing that I like is if I was on a A side Hill or something twisted It'll twist with me right it'll Compensate To whatever crazy angle I want and then I tighten it down and just stays there Right so maybe I'm shooting around Something or the top of something It's got a little uh
Bevel right there on the top that also Helps me to see if I'm level right it's Kind of nice to know because when a gun Shoots It shoots up and then it drops so if You've ever done any Urban type shooting Or combat shooting if you lay your body To the side your rounds are going to go To the right and then drop because That's what the barrel is designed to The to do so if you want to take that Out of the equation Just use the bubble that's right here on The top of the headset tighten it down And now I know that I'm straight and I'm Shooting With predetermined arcs as opposed to Throwing around a little to the right or Throwing it a little to the left maybe I Think it's the wind that's doing when The reality is just my platform's not Stable Now When it comes to putting it on stable Ground as well I can change the length Of the legs right maybe I'm on a really Sloped incline something like this I can Lengthen these legs shorten this leg Right and I basically just kind of Created a really sloped incline and then Loosen this up And bring my bevel back to zero And that's how I would compensate for a A messed up hill
So there's not a lot you can say about Tripods I can say I've used these for a couple Years they're lightweight very Functional super mobile they have the Ability to do some really crazy angles Right Give me a lot of options and They make it valuable for me to take Them out with me as opposed to leaving Them back because they don't bring Usefulness to whatever it is that I'm Doing Anyway if you guys are interested in These they're called field Optics Research go check them out I'll leave The website down below or you can just Google it it's a local company here And uh I think I'm gonna stop and I'm gonna do Some shooting All right See if I can cut some branches off with My 22.
