Hey guys today we're talking about Pistol fundamentals with a Twist do you Know somebody who's right-handed but Left eye dominant if this is you or Somebody you know I want to give you Some survival solution tips to address That issue and make sure that you have a Foundation to train on first off let's Talk about pistol grip fundamentals I've Got one of my favorite carry guns here This is a Glock 19 one of my favorites By the way I carry this for several Reasons first off it's nine millimeter The most readily available and prevalent Centerfire pistol ammo in the world is Nine millimeter takes high capacity Magazines I have several high-capacity Glock magazines at home because I have a Lot of different guns that are Glock Format guns including pccs so it makes Sense for my carry gun to be a Glock Also with this model 19 it's not too Large to conceal and it can accommodate My Red Dot sight which I highly value Since my eyesight has changed a little Bit through the years and I can shoot Faster and more accurately with it as Well anyway here's some basic grip tips To start with whether you're or right Eye dominant or left eye dominant you Want to grip up high with your strong Hand you shouldn't see any daylight here Between the webbing of your hand and This beaver tail area your strong hand
Thumb should be pointing somewhat Forward not straight up now we want to Take this support hand and use it in This fashion wrapping our support Fingers into the grooves of our strong Hand the support hand does more Squeezing than the strong hand this One's doing the work you should be Filling in these gaps this Gap here as Well on the frame of the gun for maximum Coverage and this is what it looks like If you have small hands you might need To wrap your support index finger around The trigger guard like so in order to Have a good grip like that it's Perfectly acceptable it might be right For you so if you have small hands you Might want to try it that way either way Your thumbs will end up stacked Like so whether it's here Or here Another tip I learned from some Professional shooting competitors is to Torque your hands out just a bit as if You're trying to unbend a horseshoe this Sometimes helped to make sure that our Support elbow is not pointing down and It establishes a really good overall Grip I'll show you what it looks like on This side as I torque out there feels Really good now we've got some good grip Fundamentals to start with let's talk About your dominant eye whichever one That is here's a simple test to see
Which of your eyes is your dominant eye Put your hands together like this make a Little hole in the middle Pick something on the wall or in the Distance maybe 10 yards away doesn't Have to be that far focus on it with Your vision And here's what you do once you're Focused on that object close your left Eye If you still see that object in the Distance your right eye dominant If that object disappears when you close Your left eye you are left eye dominant That's as easy as it is to figure out Which of your eyes is your dominant eye By the way about 35 percent of us Right-handers are left eye dominant I'm Not I guess maybe I'm one of the lucky Ones but anyway if you are one of those People you might find it difficult to Pick up your sights With a standard grip and you might need To modify it just a little bit and I've Got a couple of tips for you here one of The easiest ways to fix this problem is To Simply turn your head on its axis Until your left eye comes in line with The sights this way you're not Compromising your grip whatsoever so I'm Looking at it with my right eye Now I'm looking at it with my left eye Pretty simple right so there's another Way you can fix it not a big fan of this
Next method but I'm going to show it to You anyway you can simply can't your gun To the side until the site comes in line With your left eye as I said I don't Favor that technique because I think That compromises your grip a little bit Might make you a little unsteady might Make you bend your wrist and just not be That stable and obviously another fix Would be to learn how to shoot Left-handed to bring that gun in line With your left eye that might not be as Easy for you maybe you're already Right-handed and you're used to using That right hand and you need to stick With that use one of these other Techniques in any event make sure that You've got good fundamentals to begin With and let us know if you're one of Those unusual cross dominant Shooters Look forward to the comments Thank you
